ALEX ABBRUZZA, PGA – PGA of America Merchandiser of the Year – Public Category – TPC of Louisiana, Avondale, Louisiana
Alex Abbruzza, PGA, Head Golf Professional at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana, and a Member of the Gulf States PGA Section, is the recipient of the 2026 PGA of America Merchandiser of the Year Award – Public Category. The award recognizes PGA of America Golf Professionals who have excelled in business and merchandising in the promotion of golf.
A PGA Member for 12 years, Abbruzza arrived at TPC Louisiana in 2023, and thanks to his methodical approach and strategic direction total merchandise sales propelled from $1,158,186 to $2,257,052 in 2025, an impressive increase in just two years.
Abbruzza spearheaded a transformation to diversify the TPC Louisiana golf shop, creating a fresh and innovative retail experience to complement the world-class golf course, which includes incorporating alternative logos that celebrate New Orleans events and culture – such as Mardi Gras, crawfish boils, beignets and much more. The overall growth and success is primarily attributed to a rebranding of the golf shop, refreshed brands and distinct sales strategies all staff members adhere to.
TPC Louisiana is the host venue of the annual Zurich Classic, a team-format PGA TOUR Event, during which Abbruzza and his staff have seen customers from all walks of life come into the shop to see their latest offerings.
