AVONDALE, LA – SEPTEMBER 1, 2026: In the midst of scattered thunderstorms and high humidity, Kyle Ellis, PGA, from the Country Club of Oxford, hammered out a two-day score of 65-72–137 at the 2026 Gulf States PGA Professional Championship. He narrowly surpassed Will Maciasz, PGA, of Grand Bear Golf Course (70-67–137) in a playoff. These two gentlemen will be representing the Gulf States at the 2027 PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car, Rolex, and Corebridge Financial at Streamsong Golf Resort in Bowling Green, Florida, on April 25th-28th.
43 professionals signed up to compete for 2 qualifying and 3 alternate spots on August 31st – September 1st at TPC Louisiana. After the second round, the alternates were whittled down to Jacob Berry, PGA, of Northwood Country Club (71-72–143), Jacob Ross, PGA, of Reunion Golf and Country Club (73-70–143), and Jake Narro, PGA, of Golf Cars of Louisiana, LLC (72-72–144).
Following his play, Ellis noted, “I got off to a good start yesterday, hit a lot of fairways, hit a lot of greens. I was able to roll in a few putts early on yesterday to build some momentum. Overall, played solid again today. Made some good decisions, things I hadn’t been doing.”
