ARCEMENT & FULTON DUAL IN THE MARSHES OF SHELL LANDING

GAUTIER, MS – JULY 28, 2026: Nicholas Arcement of Country Club of Louisiana battled a blistering two days at Shell Landing Golf Club to become the 2026 Gulf States PGA Assistant Professional Champion. Winning in a thrilling 2-hole playoff against Ryan Fulton of Canebrake Country Club.

Arcement entered the final round one shot behind the leader, Ryan Fulton of Canebrake Country Club, who shot a -6 under 66 to get things started in Gautier. Both players continued the impressive scoring with Arcement posting -3 on the front, quickly followed by Fulton birding 5 of his first 7 holes on the back nine. An Arcement birdie on #18 followed by a Fulton bogey would land the two in a playoff at -9, ending on the second playoff hole with an Arcement par on the tricky Par 3 2nd hole. 

With the victory, Arcement qualifies for the 2026 National Assistant PGA Professional Championship, which will take place on November 11-12 at PGA Golf Club in Port St Lucie, Florida. Joseph Dendy, Jared Smith, and Brayden Seguin also qualified as alternates for the event.

It has been a few years since the Section has had the privilege of being at Shell Landing GC. The facility was a terrific host site for this championship, and we must thank Kenny Hughes, PGA, Benj Bostic, and Wes Leamon for their hospitality. Also, a big thank you to Nate Kitson, PGA, for another great year of the Assistant Championship Raffle and Summit, raising nearly $12,000 for the event, while also hosting a leadership panel after play with JT Crawford, PGA of New Orleans Country Club, Nic Ishee, PGA of Metairie Country Club, and Kenny Hughes, PGA of Shell Landing GC. Our Gulf States PGA assistants benefited greatly from the panel and conversations that followed. It was a great evening for all involved.

We now set our sights ahead to the Gulf States Open on August 21-23 at Starkville Country Club. We hope to see everyone there!
