The 2026 W.E. Morgan Mississippi Cup matches are officially in the books! 📚
What a beautiful, warm weekend we had at Laurel CC for this year's competition on Saturday & Sunday. Huge congrats to the MGA for taking home the Cup with a winning... score of 16.0-8.0! We look forward to trying our luck next year in trying to win the Cup back.
A massive thank you to everyone who made this event a success. Andy Loving, PGA, & Jeff Trecost, PGA, at Laurel CC for hosting the event. Blake Hatfield, PGA of Cutter & Buck, for providing the uniforms. Jon Diggets for hosting both teams at The Loft on Saturday night for the pairings party. Team Mississippi takes the 2026 Mackel Cup with a 33-30 win over Team Louisiana. The competition & camaraderie were close knit throughout the two days at Bayou Oaks at City Park and Metaire Country Club.
The Annual Mackel Cup serves as our tribute to the great Frank Mackel, PGA. We ...must thank everyone involved in this annual event, starting with the Mackel Family, Chip Sullivan, PGA at Bayou Oaks, Nic Ishee, PGA at Metaire CC, Jeff Morici with Johnnie O & Branded Bills, Eddie Welch with Titleist, and James Fuselier with FootJoy.

Day 1 of the Mackel Cup Matches is complete. A windy day at the beautiful @bayouoaksatcitypark led to a tight competition with Team Mississippi holding a 11-10 lead on Team Louisiana! We will see everyone tomorrow at Metaire CC to see which team comes out victorious!

The Gulf States Section, Professional Golfers’ Association of America, is an association of golf professionals whose mission is to promote interest, participation, and enjoyment in the game of golf; establish and maintain professional standards of practice; and enhance the well-being of golf professionals.

OPEN TO JUNIORS OF ALL SKILL LEVELS, AGES 11-18
The mission of the LJGT is to create more playing opportunities for ALL junior golfers in Louisiana and to do so at an affordable rate.

Total PDR per cycle = 54 Meeting/Education/Player Development/Professional Standards = 36
