The Jani-King Pro-Am was hosted at Carter Plantation on Monday, February 8. The field consisted of twenty-four, 4-person teams in a Low Gross/Low Net scoring format (a PGA professional & 3 amateurs).

Team Champions included PGA Professional Blake Thomas (University Club of Baton Rouge) and Amateurs Mike Stackus, Ross Berthelot, and Tim Melancon with a score of 11-under par, 133. Finishing in second place was Team Gueringer at 134 (-10).

Blake commented later, “All the guys played really well. Made a lot of birdies, not really any mistakes. I think one hole we had a team bogie, that was about it.”

Congratulations to Kyle Ramey, PGA from Canebrake Country Club for winning the Low PGA Professional (-3, 69).

In a post-round interview, Kyle said, “It was interesting. It seemed like the wind was in your face on every hole. So that made it pretty challenging.”

The Gulf States PGA would like to thank Mike Biggs, Chance Enmon, JJ O’Neil, and William Simms of Jani-King and Kelly Welsh of Oakley for supporting the event. Special thanks to the entire staff at Carter Plantation including the PGA Director of Golf, Tyler Lockhart, Golf Course Superintendent, Adam Russell, and Director of Instruction Paxton Clabaugh, PGA.

Our next event, the Senior/Junior Championship, will take place on March 1, 2021 at The Oaks Golf Club.
