Choudrant, LA: The 2020 PING/Sterling Cut Glass Pro-Scratch Championship was held at Squire Creek Country Club on Monday, November 1st.
This 18-hole four-ball format included 41 teams, consisting of one PGA Professional and one Amateur. Emlyn Aubrey (PGA Golf Coach at Centenary College of Louisiana) paired with Eddie Lyons fired an -11 par, 61. In second place 4 shots back was the Reunion Golf & Country Club team of Ronny Ross/Adam Smith and Hattiesburg Country Club team of Carter Callaway/Ham Bates.
Aubrey commented, “It’s always a great treat to play Squire Creek. Thank you to Robert Smith and staff for having us. My partner Eddie Lyons and I have been playing golf together for 30 years, so naturally he would be my top pick for any format like this, and he did not disappoint. He started out on fire and I just filled in later as the round went on. Golf is great fun on days like today. Thank you to our sponsors and of course our GSPGA crew!”
Closest to the Hole winners were Dustin Baker, PGA, David Meyer, PGA and Amateurs Chris Husser and Chris Brister.
The Gulf States PGA Section would like to thank Dean Tennille of PING, Hayley Hill and Alvin Newell of Sterling Cut Glass, and Kerry Genzer of Adidas Golf for their continued support of this event. The Section also wishes to thank all the staff at Squire Creek Country Club including Robert Smith, PGA Head Golf Professional and Golf Course Superintendent Andy Boughner.
Our next tournament is the Gulf States E-Z-GO Section Championship on November 30-December 1, 2020 at Koasati Pines Golf Club in Coushatta.
