Baton Rouge, LA: Despite a hot and humid day on Monday, August 29th, the Gulf States PGA Professional Championship held at The University Club was a success! 35 professionals signed up to compete for 3 qualifying and 3 alternate spots at the 2023 PGA Professional National Championship which will be played at Twin Warriors & Santa Ana Pueblo Golf Clubs in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico on April 30 – May 3.

After a second round on Tuesday, Kyle Ramey, PGA from Canebrake Country Club, (72-71–143) came in first with one-under par. Reg Adams, PGA from Huntington Park Golf Course, (72-74–146) came in second. Joseph Hanko, PGA from Elm Lake Golf Course, (72-75–147) took home third place.

Greg Sonnier, PGA from Lake Charles Country Club, (73-76–149) earned the first-place alternate spot after a playoff with Emlyn Aubrey, PGA from Centenary College (77-72–149). Brad Ambler, PGA from Pine Creek Golf Club, (75-75–150) took the third alternate spot.

Following his play Kyle noted, “It’s very intimidating off the tee, so keeping the golf ball in play…I was confident with my chances, but you never know. All I really wanted to do was run my routine every shot and see where they add up in the end.”
