The 2023 Mackel Cup was held on Sunday, January 15th, and Monday, January 16th at Bayou Oaks at City Park – South Course and Metairie Country Club. This event is a tribute to the late PGA Professional Frank Mackel. In a Ryder Cup format, point leaders from the Mississippi Chapter PGA and Louisiana Chapter PGA compete for the honor of holding the Mackel Cup.

Round 1 Four-Ball matches were played at Bayou Oaks at City Park – South Course. Round 2 Singles matches were played at Metairie CC. One point was awarded for winning each nine as well as the top overall score, with a possible total of three points per day per match.

Team members from the Louisiana Chapter PGA included: Reg Adams, Emlyn Aubrey, Cliff Bailey, Bill Baker, Nick Ellison, Robert Flanagan, Drew Goff, Adam Manuel, Ryan Mundine, Jake Narro, Blaine Patin, Greg Sonnier, Clay Weems, and Brian Williams. 

Team members from the Mississippi Chapter PGA included: Brad Ambler, Colby Blake, Leigh Brannan, Matt Brunetz, Jim Dorman, Rich Fulkerson, Blake Hatfield, Reed Hughes, David Lee, Allan Martel, Rory Nelson, Ernie Rogers, Olly Thomson, and Benji Williams. 

Team Louisiana held a four-point lead (12.5-8.5) heading into the final day at Metairie CC. They ended the second match with a final total of 40-23 over Team Mississippi, reclaiming the Mackel Cup!
