Hattiesburg, MSThe team of Reed Hughes, PGA/Colby Blake, PGA of Canebrake Country Club, has earned the honor of being named the 2024 Yamaha Senior/Junior Pro-Pro Champions. The team finished with a score of twelve-under, 60. This year’s event was held at Timberton Golf Club on Monday, March 4th.

Sixty-four players gathered on a cloudy day for golf, forming thirty-two teams. The teams were formed by a PGA Professional 50 years of age and older and a PGA Professional 49 years of age and younger. The tournament format was a front-nine best ball and a back-nine scramble. Finishing in second with a score of eleven-under, 61, was the team of Patrick Powers, PGA/JT Crawford, PGA, both of New Orleans Country Club.

In a dual interview after the round, Reed commented, “This is our first time playing in this event. Colby carried us the first few holes but we had three eagles on three par fives which helped. Colby made up for a couple of putts that I missed like the last hole. We had a putt to win and Colby sunk it right in the heart”. Colby added, “This is a fun format and very different from the rest. It was team oriented and we had a great time not only playing together but also playing with JT and Patrick.

The Gulf States PGA wishes to thank sponsors Jeff Jungers & Shannon Caverly of Yamaha Golf Cars, and Mike Shirly of O’Connor Headwear, Signature Hole In One, and GolfMax for supporting this event.
