GSPGA Hall of Fame

To recognize those individuals who have made significant and enduring contributions to the Gulf States, the PGA of America and the game of golf.

Eligible candidates include any Gulf States PGA member who is 60 years old and has a minimum of ten years active Gulf States PGA membership (in good standing).

Considerations for induction are:

• Member involvement at section and national levels
• Training and development of fellow PGA professionals
• Promoter of the game and the PGA
• Teaching accomplishments
• Playing accomplishments
• Junior golf promotion
• Personal integrity

Any nominee who receives two-thirds or more of the total votes of the committee shall be inducted into the Gulf States PGA Hall of Fame. Each HOF Committee Member may vote for up to 2 nominees. If all seven (7) committee members vote, it will require five (5) votes for induction. A maximum of three (3) Hall of Fame Members may be inducted in a cycle. In the event that more than 3 are voted in during a single cycle, the 3 with the most votes shall gain entrance. Should there still be a tie for 3rd, the Chair shall be the deciding vote.

President reserves the right to contact inductees.

HOF Call is confidential and results should be kept as so until the press release has been distributed.

Hall of Fame Committee vote and induction will take place in even-numbered years.

The year after turning 60 years of age, any Gulf States PGA Past President or Professional of the Year or National Award winner will automatically be nominated for induction into the Gulf States PGA Hall of Fame.  Additionally, at the discretion of the committee it may nominate any individual who does not meet the eligibility requirements set forth above. Upon such nomination, a unanimous vote of the committee is required for induction.

The Hall of Fame Committee will consist of the following:

• Section President (while sitting)
• 3 Past Presidents (6-year term, 3 cycles)
• 3 Hall of Fame Members (6-year term, 3 cycles)

The Hall of Fame Committee has designated the Gulf States PGA Annual Meeting as the time and place for Hall of Fame Inductions, which is held before the Six Pro Championship each December. This meeting has traditionally drawn the largest attendance of PGA professionals and therefore should be the place where we recognize our most distinguished as they enter our Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame Plaque will be presented to the inductee by a representative of the Gulf States PGA. An inductee will be allowed eight (8) minutes to speak at the induction and plaque presentation. The inductee is permitted to invite guests to the induction at the Annual Meeting, keeping in mind that we may have space and seating limitations.

The Gulf States PGA will purchase two busts for each inductee. One bust will reside in our Hall of Fame and the other will be presented to the inductee/family. Additional busts may be ordered at our cost should the family wish to purchase.

An inductee (and/or their family/facility) may host an additional induction ceremony at the time and place of their choice. Should they choose to host an additional induction ceremony, the Gulf States PGA would attempt to provide a representative for the event, but would not be responsible for any planning or costs.
