Trustmark Invitational to be held at Laurel Country Club
Laurel, MS, June 26, 2013 – The Trustmark Invitational, a Professional Golfer’s Association of America Mississippi Chapter event, will be held at Laurel Country Club for the fourth time in its 40-year history. The 54-hole stroke play event is scheduled for July 26-28, 2013. The tournament will showcase a field of 120 players, including the state’s top PGA professionals and amateurs.
All MPGA members and apprentices are eligible to play. Amateurs must have their handicap verified by a PGA professional, and then submit their entry for consideration. “We are excited to be a part of a tournament that promotes the game of golf on both the professional and amateur level and also supports Mississippi communities,” said Jerry Host, Chief Executive Officer of Trustmark. “Hosting the event at a different course each year highlights the outstanding courses available for play throughout the State, and provides the best players in Mississippi with a challenging contest.”
In a joint effort, Trustmark and the Mississippi PGA are supporting the Folds of Honor Foundation (foldsofhonor.org) with contributions made possible through their partnership in the Trustmark Invitational. The Folds of Honor Foundation is rallying a nation to ensure no family is left behind in the fight to preserve American freedom. Through scholarships and other assistance, they give back to the spouses and children of soldiers killed or disabled in service to our country. They provide healing, hope and an opportunity for dreams to be realized extending the legacy of our fallen heroes.
The Mississippi PGA is comprised of 140 PGA professionals who are the recognized experts in the game and business of golf, and are employed at 70 of Mississippi’s finest golf facilities. “We are pleased Trustmark is a part of this great event that is known for its unique format of pitting the best amateurs and PGA professionals in Mississippi against each other,” said Bryant Himes, Mississippi PGA President. “Being at the Laurel Country Club for the fourth time in the event’s 40-year history brings an additional level of excitement.
