Palmer Jumps Into Lead after Round Two at 2016 MPGA Trustmark Invitational

Oxford, Miss. —  (July 16, 2016) – Damon Palmer of Tupelo leads the 2016 Mississippi PGA Trustmark Invitational after two rounds. The tournament, which showcases a field of the state’s top PGA professionals and amateurs, is in its 43rd year.

Palmer stands 9-under par with a 135 total score (70-65) to take the lead by 4 strokes over Josh Oller of Jackson who shot a total score of 139 (70-69).

Reflecting on his round, Palmer stated, “That was one of the best rounds I have played in a long time. I don’t know where it came from. I haven’t played or practiced in a while. I kept the ball in play. I was in a groove and made some good putts from under the cup. It was one of my best rounds. I was proud of it.”

Congratulations to Hunter Darby for his 166 yard hole-in-one on Hole 15 with his 8-iron! Darby commented, “It was my first hole-in-one, and I didn’t believe it! Before today, my 8-iron was my favorite club and after today it definitely is my favorite club!”
