METAIRIE, La. – Assistant Professionals Cory Cooper, PGA and Gavin Vegas of New Orleans (La.) Country Club joined efforts to win the 2015 Gulf States PGA Sterling Cut Glass Stableford Championship by 4 strokes. The tournament was contested at The Island Country Club in Plaquemine, La. on March 9, 2015.

Cooper and Vegas parred 7 holes and birdied an additional 9 on their way to finishing up the round with a total score of 50 points. In second place, Head Golf Professional Kyle Ramey of Windance Country Club and PGA Director of Instruction Marshall Saxon of Sunkist Country Club trailed the leaders with 46 points.

“The format was great,” said Vegas. “Pars were important and birdies were rewarded. It was fun competing for a big first place prize thanks to Sterling Cut Glass.”

“The format was fun an allowed for an aggressive game plan,” said Cooper. “Gavin and I brother-in-lawed pretty well. He made birdies early and I made birdies late.”

Gulf States PGA tournament sponsor, Sterling Cut Glass, raised the stakes by providing $2,000 to the purse.

“Sterling Cut Glass’ contributions were greatly appreciated and made it a great event,” added Cooper.
