Dempsey Finishes Strong at National Car Rental GSPGA Assistant Championship

METAIRIE, La. – Jordan Dempsey, an Assistant Professional at The Country Club of Louisiana in Baton Rouge, La, posted a score of 5-under-139 (73-66) to win the 2012 National Car Rental Gulf States PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF. This year’s tournament was contested at Colonial Country Club – Deerfield Club in Canton, Miss on August 6-7, 2012. With this win, Dempsey has solidified his spot in the National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF to be held November 1-4, 2012 on the Wanamaker Course at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Dempsey set the tone early on in the Championship with an eagle on the first hole of the first round; showing his determination to improve upon his second place finish in the 2011 GSPGA Assistant Championship.

A first round weather delay didn’t derail his game and he would go on to best the field by three strokes at the close of the tournament.

Matthew Harvey, an assistant professional at Bayou De Siard Country Club in Monroe, La., was next in line with a two-day total of 2-under-142 (69-73). PGA Assistant Professional Anthony Price of Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Raymond, Miss. finished closely behind Harvey at 1-under-143 (71-72).

The Gulf States Section PGA would like to thank National Car Rental and COBRA PUMA GOLF for sponsoring this event. The Section also thanks PGA Head Professional Steve Barr and the staff at Colonial Country Club – Deerfield Club for all of their hard work in making this event a success.
