CAMPO THREE-PEATS, WEEMS’ BACK NINE RALLY SEALS VICTORY

METAIRIE, LA – The Golf Cars of Louisiana/Club Car LA PGA Championship named its 2017 Regular and Senior Division Champions today. The event was held on Monday, May 22nd and Tuesday, May 23rd at Oak Wing Golf Club in Alexandria, LA.

Clay Weems, PGA, opened the first round with a score of one over par seventy-three finding himself in second place and one shot back of the lead. Weems finished round two with a four under par sixty-eight and this was capped off by an eagle on hole-sixteen, which sealed his victory of the Championship. Weems is the Assistant PGA Professional at Frenchman’s Bend Country Club, Monroe, LA. Craig Campo, PGA, General Manager of Oak Wing Golf Club, Alexandria, LA, defended his title for a third year in a row as the Senior Division Champion with a two-day total of one-hundred and forty-nine, five over.

Regular Division Runner-Up: Phil Schmitt, PGA of Baton Rouge, LA

Senior Division Runner-Up: Robbie Gueringer, PGA of Alexandria, LA

Round one proved to be very difficult with rain all day and an hour and a half delay. Round two was followed by clear blue skies and sunshine. The conditions were perfect to finish the Championship.
