METAIRIE, LA – PGA Professional, Phil Schmitt was one shot behind after round one. With a one over par 72 in the final round, Schmitt took home the title of 2017 Gulf States PGA E-Z-GO Section Champion. This year’s Championship was held in Meridian, MS at Northwood Country Club on Monday, October 2nd and Tuesday, October 3rd. Schmitt won by one shot with a 69-72 (141) 1-under par total and with this win he has earned an exemption into the 2018 Sanderson Farms Championship being held at the Country Club of Jackson.
A trio finished tied for second and those were PGA Member Jake Narro with scores of 68-74 (142) even par, PGA Member Kyle Ramey with scores of 72-70 (142) even par, and PGA Member Tim Basel with scores of 74-68 (142) even par.
Northwood Country Club proved to be a tremendous test of golf with excellent course conditions. The weather over the two days was outstanding with low humidity and highs in the low 80’s. Click here for full results.
