METAIRIE, LA – Louisiana’s top junior golfers contended in the 2017 Louisiana Trusted Choice Big “I” Junior Championship on Monday, July 10th at the Island in Plaquemine, Louisiana, to qualify for the 2017 Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi on August 7-10. Two boys and one girl qualified to represent Louisiana at the highly competitive National Championship.
Due to inclement weather the 36-hole championship was shortened to 27 holes, but was still filled with excitement with a one-hole playoff for second place in the boys division.
Boys Overall Champion, Nick Daniel of Covington, Louisiana, shot a one-over par 73 in the first round and on the nine-hole second round he shot a stellar three-under par 33 and finished the day two-under par with a total of 106. Ryan Fulton of Crowley, Louisiana, shot a first round one-under par 71 and a nine-hole second round of three-over par 39. Fulton finished with a two-round total of two-over par 110, and tied Eric Brown of Lake Charles, Louisiana, who shot one-over par 73 in the first round and shot an even-par 36 in the second round. Fulton claimed second place after winning a one-hole playoff against Brown. Daniel and Fulton qualified for the National Big “I” Championship.
Girls Overall Champion, Abbey Daniel of Covington, Louisiana, shot a solid 73-35 for a two-round total of even-par 108 to secure her victory and qualify for the National Championship. Cassidy Lambert of Gretna, Louisiana, placed second with a two-round score of 81-36 for a total of nine-over par 117.
