METAIRIE, LA – PGA Professional, Kyle Ramey was three shots behind after round one. With a 3-under par 69 in the final round, Ramey took home the title of 2016 Gulf States PGA E-Z-GO Section Champion. This year’s Championship was held at Baton Rouge Country Club on Monday, September 26th and Tuesday, September 27th. Ramey won by three shots with a 73-69 (142) 2-under par total and with this win he has earned an exemption into the 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans being held at TPC Louisiana.
Ramey, Head PGA Professional at Windance in Gulfport, MS, weighed in on his final round, “It was a good day all in all. I hit the ball really well and finishing the round the way I did with birdieing 17 and 18 was the cherry on top.”
This was the first tournament that Ramey competed in as a PGA Member, he said, “My goal was to win. I wanted to play well and have a good finish. This was a big bonus winning this one. Everything fell right into place.”
Ramey added, “The 2017 exemption into the Zurich Classic of New Orleans is the coolest part of it. It has been a life-long goal coming to fruition. During the event I am going to take it all in. I am very grateful to have this opportunity to even have a chance to compete.”
Ramey said, “Baton Rouge Country Club is a great facility and the golf course was perfect. Thank you to Host PGA Professional Bobby Jacks, the entire staff, and membership. We all felt like members over the two days there.”
Ramey also said, “Congratulations to the Gulf States PGA Staff on a great event. The setup was the best that I have seen over my three and half years playing in the Section.
