METAIRIE, La. – Billy Pomeroy is the new champion at the Ladd’s/Club Car Mississippi PGA Chapter Championship at Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss, which was held on June 1-2, 2015
Pomeroy, a PGA Head professional, shot 9-under-135 (67-68) to claim the victory.
“The par 5’s were really important. I was able to reach them in two. I birdied three out of four yesterday. I birdied #three and eagled #9 today. That was really huge,” Said Pomeroy. “The course is very similar to Northwood CC, where I work. Lots of positioning and lots of doglegs,” He added.
PGA Directory of Golf Chip Sullivan of Patrick Farms Golf Club and Tim Yelverton, PGA Teaching Professional at Old Waverly Golf Club, followed Pomeroy in second place posting an seven under par-137.
PGA Head Professional Jerry Covich of Hickory Hills Golf Club and Tim Yelverton captured the Pro-Pro Best Ball competition in the second round of play shooting 9-under-66.
