Yelverton Defends Mississippi Chapter Championship Title

METAIRIE, La. –  All the odds were in Tim Yelverton’s favor at the Ladd’s/Club Car Mississippi PGA Chapter Championship where he returned as defending champion to once again win the title at his home course of Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss on June 16-17, 2014

Yelverton, a PGA teaching professional, shot 4-under-140 (71-69) to claim the victory, a stroke over his winning score from 2013.

PGA Directory of Instruction Jon Howell of the Country Club of Jackson followed Yelverton in second place posting an even par-144 (73-71).

PGA Master Professional Ernest Ross sat atop the Senior division leaderboard with a 154 (76-78).

PGA Head Professional Leigh Brannan of Deerfield Golf Club and PGA Life Member Rich Fulkerson captured the Pro-Pro Best Ball competition in the second round of play shooting 7-under-65.

Marshall Saxon, PGA of Dick’s Sporting Goods was able to claim the Barbecue Flight that was also contested in the second round with a score of 74.
