The 2013 Page & Tuttle/ Haas-Jordan Pro-Pro Championship began the day with warm temperatures and a near record field of professionals from all corners of the Gulf States Section. The Oaks Golf Club in Pass Christian, MS hosted the event for the first time with the support of Dan and Kitty Peoples (Page & Tuttle/Haas-Jordan).
The Four-Ball team of Cory Cooper, PGA and Drew Goff from New Orleans Country Club claimed the victory with a narrow one-stroke victory over J.T. Crawford and Drew Goff. The winning team combined for a nine under round of 63, which included eight birdies and an eagle. “Cory made a really long putt on hole #15 for eagle and a long one for birdie on #18” said Goff about his teammate.
Goff shot a five under, 67, individually with eight birdies.
“Around 100 yards and approach shots I hit them solid, and was able to hit them inside of 5 feet.” said Goff.
The duo stated that they partnered well and picked each other up when they missed a shot.
“I felt I could be aggresive on the greens and had a few putts drop at the right time.” said Cooper about his round.
The Oaks Golf Club was in terrific condition, and it provided the perfect opportunity for low scores.
Four teams tied for third with totals of six under, 66.
“I think because of the sponsors (Dan and Kitty Peoples), we are able to draw the largest field of any pro-pro event of the season.” said Cooper.
“It’s a great event and we appreciate everything they do. We want to come out and show support for one of the better events of the season.” said Goff.
Special thanks to the sponsors, Dan and Kitty Peoples of Page & Tuttle and Haas-Jordan for providing a first-class event to all who participated.
The Gulf States PGA Section would like to thank PGA General Manager Russ Bloom and the staff at The Oaks Golf Club for all of their help in preparing for this tournament and making the event successful.
